I know this might be kind of late for some of you but I just had to perform an upgrade to our SQL server as our last vendor now supports SQL 2005. But I ended up with a problem. When upgrading I got an error (-1). What the hell it that? It was totally non-descript.… Read More »
Here is a good fix. I recently upgraded to the UM175 WWAN device from Verizon but there was a problem.
After I activated the UM175 I would get an error:
A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection. For further assistance, click more info or search help and support center for this error.
***Now, I did not get an error code but after some research I discovered that many other people were getting error codes! Most of the computers with the errors were Dell and Lenovo machines.
I called support and they were no help at all, they told me that it is s problem with WinXP and deal with it myself.
Wow, I had one user yesterday having a problem with word 07. Every time she closed Word it would crash. The build-in diag tools didn’t find a problem. I tracked it down to a template add-in that I was unable to remove. When removing an add-in, Word doesn’t save the settings until either Word is closed or the dialog box has accepted the changes. I was really lazy and looked up the recursion portion (MS Scripting Guys)! You can point this script anywhere and it will delete any files older then the days you specify.

I had to install a bunch of fonts on many computers and the stuff on Google wasn't much help.
So, I thought about it for like two seconds and came up with a way to install the fonts remotely.
I am currently using a fortigate Firewall with an SSLVPN.
And I need to get the AD authentication working for users.
It was like pulling teeth to try to get this done.
I hope this helps others!
