Upon installing a fresh installation of Windows Server 2012 R2 I needed to install Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 on the server. When running the normal installation via the normal Server Manger gui I ran into the error message “Do you want to specify an alternate source path? One or more installation selections are missing source files….
The answer is actually really easy, you just load Server 2012 installation CD or mount the ISO to the server, then specify an alternate source when going through the server manager gui, the reason I’m writing this is because I’ve become a fan of the command line and wanted to share this nifty command which will do it for you. The command is :
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /all /Source:D:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess
This is what it looks like when running the command in the powershell prompt, although it can be run from the regular command prompt.
